I just got off the phone with Dana and life is moving forward in the Vogelpohl family. After a few weeks of being back in the Toledo area, they have moved back into their house. Their house has been for sale since they left out on deputation so the mere fact that it hasn't sold has been a blessing in disguise. The Lord has also provided them with a minivan which is a blessing because they can all fit into it together.
Angie's recovery is coming along well and she is no longer experiencing any pain at all and isn't taking any medication whatsoever. She had an appointment with her neck doctor in Ohio and the appointment revealed that her neck arteries have completely healed and the risk of blood clots has gone completely away. The x-rays showed that although her vertebrates are healin , the doctor is concerned that they won't heal properly and she will need to have them fused together before this is all said and done. His concern is that if she doesn't do this, there will be a risk of paralysis or worse caused by the discs shifting. As of right now they will be watching to see how the discs heal. Angie's halo collar is scheduled to come off sometime at the end of August. Until then, they will be praying that her neck will heal without the need of any surgery.
One thing that I talked to Dana about in addition to Angie's recovery was if they had any immediate needs. Dana said that he could use some meetings in the Ohio, Michigan and Indiana area where he would be able to go out for a night and come back by himself, not having to leave Angie and the kids behind for longer than that. A pastor in Texas suggested that it might be a good thing if Dana could modify his presentation DVD to include an introduction explaining what has happened while on the road and maybe what the future holds once Angie is healed. Dana said he liked the idea also and this may be something that happens in the very near future. On that same breath, I asked him if he had replaced his laptop computer which had been destroyed in the accident and he said that for right now he is using a net book. If you are a pastor and would like to get one of these DVD's to show to your church, please contact Dana. I am sure that your input would help him realize whether or not this effort is worthwhile.
In summary, the Vogelpohl's immediate prayer needs are:
· Angie's neck will heal and not need further surgery.
· Dana would be able to get some meetings scheduled in the Ohio, Michig an and Indiana area until Angie can heal up enough to get back on the road.
